[apologies for multiple posts; please distribute] ------------------------------------------------- First Call for Papers EPIA 2011 - 15th Portuguese Conference on Artificial Intelligence Thematic Track: COLA - COmputational Logic with Applications October 10-13 Universidade de Lisboa, Portugal http://epia2011.appia.pt/ == Overview == The development of sophisticated intelligent systems requires more and more sound and appropriate foundations and tools, resulting in new problems and challenges for the computational logic practitioners. Computational logic has been widely used in complex applications in important areas such as the Deductive Databases, Natural Language Processing and Program Analysis, and more recently on the Semantic Web and related Web Tools. These novel applications have exposed the limits of existing approaches, showing the need for research on better languages and more sophisticated implementations of reasoning systems. The COLA thematic track of EPIA 2011 covers the broad area of Computational Logic and its applications, with special interest on topics related with new formalisms, environments, languages, tools, and applications. A non-exhaustive list of topics follows: - Logic based knowledge representation and applications - Declarative semantics of rule languages and applications - Program Analysis, Program Transformation, Validation and Verification, Debugging, Profiling - Implementation of reasoning systems, in particular logic programming, contextual logic programming, and tabling systems - Abductive and Inductive Logic Programming - Ontologies, Description Logics and integration with reasoning systems - Reasoning with incomplete and uncertain information, including non-monotonic reasoning as well as probabilistic and fuzzy logic programming formalisms - Reasoning on the Semantic Web - Applications: Deductive Databases, Data Integration, Natural Language, Semantic Web, and Web Tools == Important Dates == Deadline for paper submission: May 10, 2011 Notification of paper acceptance: June 10, 2011 Camera-ready papers: July 1, 2011 Conference dates: October 10-13, 2011 == Submission Guidelines == All papers should be submitted through the conference management website at: http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=epia2011 Papers should not exceed fifteen (15) pages in length and must be formatted according to the information for LNCS authors. Papers must be submitted in PDF (Adobe's Portable Document Format) format and will not be accepted in any other format. Papers that exceed 15 pages or do not follow the LNCS guidelines risk being rejected automatically without a review. At least one author of each accepted paper must register for the conference. More information about the Springer's Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) are available on the Springer LNCS Web site http://www.springer.com/computer/lncs?SGWID=0-164-6-793341-0 The best papers (the exact number is decided by the EPIA Chairs) will appear in the proceedings published by Springer in the LNAI series. We do not include command line history in the shell itself since this is provided by the gui interface (e.g., emacs) and is easy to provide that externally. For example, you can run: emacs -f ciao and you will get a top level in a window with full command line history (CTRL and up cursor, CTRL and down cursor, etc.), plus all of the Ciao emacs mode goodies, if you want to use them (e.g., the source level debugger, direct access to the documenter, editing, etc.). ciaosh command line history

Hello everyone, I have recently installed ciao-prolog on my mac os x and my ubuntu machines. I just want to know if command line history a la UNIX shells (e.g. CTRL-R and up cursor) is implemented at all in ciaosh since they don't seem to work in both of my machines. emacs interface will not install correctly on Win7 64

Like other people I appear to have problems with the install on windows 7-64, first and foremost the installer does not recognise the Emacs version that it downloads itself and auto-starts a new emacs download at every time the installer is invoked (looking in a hardcoded path rather than the windows program path perhaps ? eg \program files rather than \program files (x86) ?) . Also the batch files run at the end of the install do not function properly and appear to be trying to find a folder that is not there Tested latest stable and development versions downloaded today Any ideas?

Thanks a lot ! The latest version works fine. To the extent that I have been able to test it (opening a simple source file, loading and querying it in the Ciao shell) the system works well both under windows 7 and windows vista. Emacs now enters into Ciao mode as expected. There are a couple of glitches, most probably due to the development status of the version. I attach the file 'environment_ciao.log' in case you want to read the errors printed during installation. The content of the file is identical on both installations. On the windows 7 machine, three warnings are issued by the Ciao engine when it starts both within EmacsW32 as well as when you start it as a character-based shell: Warning: cannot create /cygdrive/c/Program Files/CiaoDE/ciao/lib/default_predicates.itf Warning: cannot create /cygdrive/c/Program Files/CiaoDE/ciao/lib/dec10_io.itf Warning: cannot create /cygdrive/c/Program Files/CiaoDE/ciao/lib/iso_byte_char.itf But otherwise the Prolog engine seems to work fine. These warnings are absent on the windows vista machine. Again, thank you very much for your quick fix, much so considering we are in the middle of an August weekend. I met exactly the same problem that Luis Iraola ! I sent a mail to ciao-bug(a)clip.dia.fi.upm.es on the 25/07/2011, but for the moment the only answer is: "your mail is being held until the list moderator can review it for approval", so , as Luis I say: Any help will be much appreciated. EmacsW32 not starting in Ciao mode

Dear all, After installing the latest available version of EmacsW32, I have installed version 1.14.0 of Ciao Prolog and I am getting the following message in file environment_ciao.log: Please verify that no errors appears in this log file Command executed: "C:\Program Files\CiaoDE\makedir\runwin32.bat" "C:\Program Files\CiaoDE\build\objs\Win32i86\ciaoengine.exe" "C:\Program Files\Emacs\emacs\bin" Output: {WARNING (make_rt): Target environment does not exist} This message may (or may be not) be related with the problem I am experiencing: when launching the Ciao Graphical Development Environment, the Emacs editor does not start in Ciao mode. I get this message in the Emacs messages area: Cannot open load file: c:/Program Files/CiaoDE/emacs-mode/ciao-mode-init.el There is certainly no such file at that address, instead an "skeleton" file is found, but I do not know what to do with it. I have no experience with Emacs and just using the skeleton file as provided (removing the .skel suffix) removes the previous error and produces a new one: Symbol's value as variable is void: <v>CIAOLIBDIR</v> Any help will be much appreciated.
