Emacs can't find Ciao info file

* Mac OSX Lion * Ciao 1.14.2 * Emacs 24 I've installed Ciao using the Mac OSX installer. I've configured my shell to load the CIAOLIBDIR/DOTprofile file upon login per the Ciao docs, and can verify that it gets loaded. I start Emacs, open a "foo.pl" file, and successfully get the Ciao mode. However, when I use the menu to go to the "Ciao system manual", it claims "Could not find ciao: manual in info dir". In addition to having the INFOPATH variable set, I also manually add the "/usr/local/share/info" directory to 'Info-directory-list in Emacs. Since there's only a file " ciao-1.14.2.info" in that folder, I've also made a symlink to just " ciao.info" in the same folder to see if that would work. None of the above has worked. What can I do to get Emacs to incorporate the Ciao info file? I've followed these instructions<http://ciaohome.org/docs/branches/1.14/13646/CiaoDE-1.14.2-13646_ciao.html/… of the Ciao emacs interface> to get my Emacs env setup, but I'm obviously missing something. Timing in Ciao?

How do people run simple timing tests in Ciao? In SWI-Prolog I can do the following: benchmark1 :- flag(benchmark,_,0), repeat, zebra1(Houses, WaterDrinker, ZebraOwner), flag(benchmark,N,N+1), N = 1000, !. benchmark :- time(benchmark1). What is the equivalent in Ciao? Thanks! David

You are right: those instructions correspond to the older method, that is not being distributed any more. We switched some time ago to the current installer-based method which do not really need instructions. Make sure you install things as administrator (this is necessary due to changes in windows 7 and XP), i.e., go to the folder into which the installer file has been downloaded, click on it with the right mouse button, and select in the menu "run as administrator". DES 3.0 Released

This is a mail just for informing that the new release Datalog Educational System version 3.0 http://des.sourceforge.net has been launched on May, 10th, 2012, and ported to Ciao Prolog 1.14.2 There are two relevant enhancements in the current release: Predicate persistency supported by external databases, and an extended SQL debugger. The first one motivates raising the major version as it opens a brand new scenario for several reasons: First, predicates are no longer limited by available memory; instead, persisted predicates are using as much secondary storage as needed and provided by the underlying external database. Second, processing is directed to the external database for those rules that can be projected, and to the deductive engine for rules that can not. This way, one can take advantage of the external database performance and scalability. Third, queries which are not possible in an external database can be solved by the deductive engine. So, one can extend external database expressiveness with the added features in DES. Finally, as several ODBC connections are allowed at a time, different predicates can be made persistent in different DMBSs, which allows for interoperability among external relational engines and the local deductive engine, therefore enabling business intelligence applications. With respect to the new SQL Debugger version, which is a new implementation, it also now accept user information about wrong and missing tuples, allowing to focus the questions directed to the user on more precise error sources, therefore preventing many questions involving large sets of data. New ports to SICStus Prolog 4.2.1 and SWI-Prolog 6.0.2 have been provided. Finally, the license has been relaxed to LGPL version 3. Trouble with lpdoc

Hi 2 problems: a. lpdoc does not seem to be installed with the OSX package b. On Linux, lpdoc seems to be missing the SETTINGS_DEFAULT.pl file. I've laboured and got ciao 1.14 working with emacs and info on both Linux and OSX. Most impressive - especially the integration of emacs and ciao with the info manuals. But I can't get to 1st base with lpdoc. On Linux and from emacs when I use the lpdoc menu option to create a new SETTINGS file I get an error message: Opening input file: no such file or directory, /local/lib/lpdoc/lpdoc-3.0/SETTINGS_DEFAULT.pl >From the command line on Linux, running the command: lpdoc lpsettings produces the error message: { Program ended with failure } I've installed ciao and lpdoc on SUSE linux from source on one machine and from the RPM package on another. The behaviour is the same on both. The path on the RPM version is /usr/lib/lpdoc/ .., I've also installed on a Max OSX machine. There is no lpdoc on that installation. Can someone help me? Perhaps a sample SETTINGS_DEFAULT.pl file (I don't mind altering paths where appropriate). Or is lpdoc lpsettings no longer available? The -h option does not show it as a command. Hello - I have installed the current version of Ciao Prolog on Windows 7. I think the instructions in the user manual are out of date as it discusses a Zip file whereas the current download is an executable. The user manual also mentions a file called ForEmacs.txt but after installation of both Emacs and Ciao prolog I can find no sign of it. At the end of the download the programming environment looks as if Emacs is being used, but if I shut down Emacs and the programming environment, I can make Emacs come up again by itself and also Ciao by itself, but I think the two should work together. What is the current procedure for installing Ciao Prolog with Emacs on Windows 7? What is the procedure for restarting Ciao Prolog with Emacs after closing down at the end of a session?
