addendum on emacs-24.5 and prolog.el

I forgot, I run NetBSD on an i386 laptop. The development ciao was failing because it wanted a linux86 directory to hold the ciao engine and building for BSDi86 obviously would not do this. I didn't document the problem, and I did not fix what I could with the build system. On that topic, could I suggest #!/usr/bin/env bash for shell setting, since on BSD and other non-SYSV systems, bash is not built to /bin. Thanks. John R. Towler jtowler(a)soncom.com

emacs 24.5 hidden settings

Hello, I recently built the stable version of ciao prolog. The development version didn't build the engine etc. correctly, though it seemed to. Stable is fine. I ran into a problem with it setting itself by hidden settings to change the prolog selected by default by FSF emacs' prolog.el, updated to Stefan Bruda's latest version. How can I configure Ciao so that this does not occur. I am not fully commiting to using ciao prolog as my first prolog environment, and I would add Ciao to the list, but reserve to myself what the defaults are to in part prevent a non-productive competitive aspect into the minds of whoever reads this. I think Ciao's tcl/tk interface might help my porting/getting working of van Noord's Hdrug as a graphical grammar environment to work with Carpenter and Penn's ALE both of which were written for Sicstus Prolog. Clear summary: What causes Ciao prolog to modify the variable bindings for emacs-24.5's $EMACS/24.5/lisp/progmodes/prolog.el. Thanks in advance. Sincerely, John R. Towler jtowler(a)soncom.com

Using [persdb_mysql] Library

Dear Ciao, I need your help ... I think I missed something here. I installed the following: 1. Linux Ubuntu 15.04 2. MySQL 3. Emacs 4. Ciao packages last stable version (Debian-based Linux (Ubuntu, XUbuntu, Knoppix) - Version - *CiaoDE-1.14.2-13646.i386.deb*) from (Ciao-Lang.org) and I installed it using (Ubuntu Software Center) just one click. 5. Finally, I tested some simple programs and it worked fine My *issue* is that, all the samples that included mysql_clientI gave the following error: {ERROR: absolute_file_name/7, arg 1 - existence error: source_sink:library(persdb_mysql(linker_opts_auto)) does not exist} Please advice ... ld: cannot find -lmysqlclient

Hi Dear All: I'm trying to test persmysql, but failed with error: use_module(persmysql). /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lmysqlclient collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status {Dynamic link failed} I've installed libmysqlclient18, and there exists configuration under /etc/ld.so.conf.d. I'll appreciate very much if you could tell me how to fix this issue. Thank you very much! Arthur Wang

Connecting RDBMs via Ciao

Hello dear all, I'm doing some PhD research in prologue integration efficiency and I'm asking about the ability of connecting Ciao with the RDBMs (MySQL, MS SQL Server, Oracle .. etc.) and doing some queries and returning the data-sets results back to the Ciao program.
