It may not help you, but just in case: it "crosses" clause heads and clause body goals of different files (it is not aware of modules: just ignores them). It may work for you if you don't have clashes between predicate names in different modules. Web interfacing

Ok, so I've written my ciao prolog code using the pillow library to produce a form and process it. Now I want to use it from my web-server (on a Win NT system). What form does the code have to be in? (source, script, executable) I've tried everything and still I get a server error. I'm fairly new to this kind of thing. What am I doing wrong? David

Win/Emacs toplevel problem resolved (Ouf!)

Just a note to mention that the problem I was having running the Ciao toplevel under my winEmacs (and bothering everyone about) has been resolved simply, though I am ashamed to admit it: my Norton Antivirus was blocking the subprocess without a word. From the Emacs manual: A third report from Peter Haas about Norton Antivirus 2000 (Emacs 20.5.1, Win98): a DOS shell cannot be started within Emacs without disabling the antivirus autoprotect feature (e.g., clicking on the icon in the system tray). Now I am happily exploring Ciao. (Another glitch which I will explore: under winEmacs the Ciao menus go off the screen to the left.) Thanks, Bill Winder

My problem is similar to others: I don't get a ciao prompt when I call = ciao top-level-processor from Emacs in Widows98 and is useless to write = queries, you dont get answers. Worse when you exit emacs there is not = real killing of the process (You can see ciao engine still active in the = task manager).=20 What's wrong. Any suggestion? Thanks Luciano Garcia

The only problem I seem to be having is the interaction of emacs with ciao; all the emacs functions work (such as storing queries). On the other hand I don't get a ciao prompt and a query in the emacs listener window does not make it to ciao, nor is ciao able to get the response back to emacs. All the path info seems to be accurate; ciao does start as a process under emacs (though when I exit emacs, emacs does not seem to stop the process. I have a work-around for that.) I'm not sure how to debug the problem, so I thought I would compare the ciao prolog.el and another prolog.el at http://www.freesoft.cz/software/emacs/prolog-mode/. for SWI. This brings me to a few questions: 1. Is there any way to know if ciao is sending a prompt to emacs ? (In other words, can I watch that interaction?) 2. Is the ciao prolog.el related to the Emil-Åström-SWI prolog.el (see above)? Does the latter work with ciao? 3. When I run the preprocessor, ciaopp, the error message is "no such file", and indeed only ciaopp.pl is installed in .../library. Does the preprocessor use a cioapp.cpx or something else? I'm assuming that it should be something other than ciaopp.pl. (Like ciaopp.po or ciaopp.cpx.. and even in the /shell subdirectory.) I had the same problem. In my case it was due to the use of backslashes in the DOTemaces.el file in the Ciao Directory.
