Hi - I puzzled over this a bit too: Placing the .emacs file (the content for this is generated by the ciao install script in the top dir of your ciao distribution file, in 'ForEmacs' file) in the emacs home dir etc makes no difference.
The magic happened for me when the .emacs file gets located root C dir: c:/.emacs (This fact is indeed noted in the ciao pdf manual but it takes a while for us to get to page 746 or so... :-) Cheers, George

i am not new to Prolog but i am new to CIAO Prolog. i have been trying for ages to get it to run on my win32 Emacs with no luck so far. when i start Emacs from the .Emacs file, it just opens as normal Emacs. anyone using win32 Emacs?
