I just downloaded Ciao 1.5p167 and the emacs error remains just the same. That is, when I try to start the top level from within NT Emacs i get a "Spawning child process: exec format error"
I am quite sure it is just a small detail in my setup, but I am not experienced enough in Emacs lisp (or Ciao) to figure out what could be wrong. Can you please give a hint what I should look for?
Hi. I've just installed Ciao in an NT machine, with no problems. We need some more information to find what is the problem.
Which version of Emacs are you using? Can you open a Windows shell in Emacs (just do M-x shell)? If no, it is possible that you are using a anti-virus software which is causing problems: see http://www.gnu.org/software/emacs/windows/ntemacs.html#anti-virus for a workaround.
Can you start the ciao shell (go to the installation directory, and, under the 'shell' directory, start ciaosh by clicking on it)? In ciao mode (e.g., after opening a *.pl file), when you go to the Ciao/Prolog menu and, at the bottom, select "SET MODE DEFAULTS" and then "Set Ciao Prolog toplevel executable", does the path to the ciaosh.bat file appears? If so, can you start from an MS-DOS shell this ciaosh.bat file?
I am forwarding this mail to the ciao-users list; others may have found this problem and know how
MCL
